Bonnie Doon book is in progress – and I need your help!

This is a call-out to my Slattery-descendent cousins and interested friends— I’m finally getting back to my long-awaited book about our Slatterys in Ireland and the Bonnie Doon story–and can use your help! It’s a fascinating story and should be of interest both to our family and to folks in Kilrush.

I’m working at crafting the various aspects of Bonnie Doon’s life to make it fun, touching and informative to read for ourselves and our descendants. Have looked at some wills, letters and property records in Ireland to help solve mysteries and tell the story but still need to fill in with interesting details . The focus is on Thomas Slattery and Margaret Mulvihill Slattery and their children, but will also go a bit into their grandchildren while in Kilrush.

Here’s what I’d love from you — Scour your memories, your garages, your cellars:

  • any little stories you can remember being told about the Slatterys and Culligans at Bonnie Doon, or about the property itself. (sometimes the tiniest detail helps bring the story alive – what a room was like, the garden, the orchard, a funny incident)
  • letters, documents and photos to and from the extended Slattery family (tell me what you have first in case I already have it)
  • photos of any memorabilia, notes, furniture, keepsakes, or clothing you or any of your relatives may have that relate to Bonnie Doon.

Here are some of the ways you can share them with me:

  • You can call, Zoom, email, WhatsApp or text me. Start with kerryshistory@gmail.com
  • I’m up to coming to your house and going through boxes in your garage! – in Austin, Dallas, Wichita, Kansas City, San Diego, or ___?
  • Or just send me a box of what you have and I’ll return after I’ve copied

THANKS SO MUCH!
